Renewable Energy Exposition to be opened at Dharubaaruge on 28 January 2008

To coincide with the Launching of the FRESA Scheme, the Ministry of Environment, Energy and Water will be hosting a Renewable Energy Exposition at Faashanaa Maalan, Dharubaaruge. The Exposition will display Renewable Energy applications and RE products being utilized in the Maldives as well as provide information to interested parties on what RE projects can be carried out and how to seek financing for such activities. The Exposition will be open to the public from 1500 to 2100 hrs on Monday, 28 January 2007. All interested parties and the public are invited to visit the Exposition and obtain information on RE activities and possibilities for the Maldives.

Fund for Renewable Energy System Applications (FRESA) will be inaugurated and Renewable Energy Exposition will be held on 28 January 2008.
A fund for providing concessionary finance to parties investing in renewable energy (RE) applications will be launched on 28 January 2008. The scheme will be jointly inaugurated by the Minster of Environment, Energy and Water Honorable Ahmed Abdullah and UNDP Resident Representative Mr. Patrice Coeur-Bizot. Through the fund, private parties and individuals will be able to take low-interest loans to purchase RE systems or equipment. The loan scheme is managed by Bank of Maldives Plc.
To promote RE systems and applications, and to create greater awareness o RE and its importance to the country, the Ministry of Environment, Energy and Water will also be holding an exposition to coincide with the launching.
